Fox Resorts is a company with purpose that cares about guests, employees, suppliers, and the environment and communities that surround us. Our underlying ethos is a belief in the sustainable well-being of people, society, and our Planet Earth.
Having established operations in 2017, Fox Resorts is fortunate to have begun operations in an era that was already conscious of sustainability initiatives, with a deep belief in the ideals of sustainable development – leaving a better world to future generations – an ethos which remains at the forefront of our brand.
The properties were set up with energy efficient inverter and CFC free equipment. Drawing from the principles of tropical architecture to best suit the Sri Lankan climate, the restaurants and lobby areas have been designed to have free circulation of air, without air-conditioning, to minimize emissions and high use of energy. Water treatment plants have been set up to treat wastewater from guest rooms and kitchens to water the gardens, and solar energy is used to power hot water in guest rooms. All lightbulbs used are energy saving bulbs, and all faucets are equipped with flow limiters.
Artisan craft sourced from local manufacturers have been inter-woven into the design philosophy of the properties. Lush green gardens have been established as a hallmark of Fox Resorts properties, with sprawling lawns and a combination of plenty of local and exotic foliage are incorporated into the landscaping of the properties.
Fox Resorts is at the heart of local culture, with a premise to provide guests with an authentic local experience in each location. Local cuisine is the main offering of the restaurant, to offer tourists the opportunity of experiencing the exotic local cuisine, prepared to five-star standards. The hotels also serve many meat-free and vegan dishes. Sustainable business practices such as composting kitchen and garden waste, careful segregation and disposal of non-recyclable waste, minimize printing and usage of paper, minimizing laundry usage by requesting guests to use the linen throughout their stay, local sourcing and employing and minimizing use of single use plastics are very much woven into our operations.
However, Fox Resorts is acutely aware that the commitment to sustainability is an ongoing one, requiring continuous improvement. As the hotels expand their operations, we pledge to expand our implementation of solar energy, invest in installing rainwater harvesting tanks, completely eliminate our use of single use plastics and also implement charitable initiatives supporting different underprivileged groups and the environment including regular neighborhood clean ups with sponsorship of bins, regular beach clean ups, annual sterilization campaigns for street dogs & cats and those belonging to low income households, an Annual Children’s Art Exhibition, and providing long term support by tying up with a local orphanage.
